FESA3: Moving FESA FWK from asl73x to asl74x
Moving from the current asl cluster (asl73x) to new future asl cluster (asl74x) several issues should be considered. Newer software versions are available and may lead to incompatibilities with the existing code base.
Issues to consider
- newer software versions on asl74x (CentOS7):

- tools, scripts, etc in /common/usr/fesa
- common FESA software directories for export
- update of configuration files
- wiki documentation for FESA developers (how to move FESA software, etc)
- new FEC image for SCUs
- additional FEC init scripts for new FEC image / for updated timing stuff
- CMW libraries / installation required -> CSCOSV/V. Rapp
- Makefile.generic requires an update too @CERN
- timing software??? -> CSCOTG, C. Prados
-
- ? effects on FESA migration tools: makefiles?
-
Changes in the FESA FWK Software Stack
- inclusion of additonal standard header files
- message queue size calculation ( FESA-6569 Message queue size calculations in CentOS 7 kernel, FESA-5747)
-
Moving FESA Software from asl73x to asl74x
Software written with the FESA FWK needs to be moved to the new asl cluster as well on the long term.
Affected at least:
- MicroIOC software (requires updated OS image on USB stick as well)
- PowerSupply software
- Beam Diagnostics software (probably new FEC image required for AOBIs FECs)
- RF, HF, ...
- ...
