How-To: saft-lcd

Introduction

This is a an experimental GSI specific command line tool for live display of Beam Production Chains (BPC).

Usage via Command Line

Usage: saft-lcd <device name> [OPTIONS] [command]

-h display this help and exit
  -e display version
-f use the first attached device (and ignore <device name>)
-v more verbosity, usefull with command 'snoop'

snoop <source> snoops and displays Beam Production Chains, CTRL+C to exit (try 'snoop 0'')
                       machine: 0 UNILAC(TK), 1 SIS, 2 ESR, 3 CRYRING (injector), 4 CRYRING (NE11)

This tool provides a very basic display of beam production chains in the facility.

Example: 'saft-lcd bla -f snoop 0' snoops facility for BPCs with origin at UNILAC(TK),
         the following information is displayed
bpcid x: sid y: source-target(s) [UNI vAcc]
-------------------------------------------
bpcid 3, sid 4: (from TK)-SIS18-NE5-NE12 [10]
      ' ' ' ' ' ' '
      ' ' ' ' ' ' '- # of virt acc requested from UNILAC
      ' ' ' ' ' '- BPC target
      ' ' ' ' '- via
      ' ' ' '- via
      ' ' '- BPC origin
      ' '- Sequence ID
      '- Beam Production Chain ID

Usage via Graylog

To make the experimental tool even more experimental, the command line output for a few 'origins' are written to diagnostic logging. Try

  • graylog
    • predefined searches; in the upper right of the browser window checkout
      • 'DB BPC Live Display'
      • 'DB BPC Live Display (origin TK)'
      • ...
    • manual search; search for 'program:saft-lcd'
    • refine search, example 'program:saft-lcd AND message:HADES'
    • other keywords: 'UNILAC', 'SIS18', 'NE3', 'NE4', 'NE5', 'NE8', 'NE12', 'ESR', 'HTA', 'HTC', 'HTD', ..., 'HADES' ...
  • (maybe this works too: click)
